¿Te animas a verla? ¡No tiene desperdicio!

We hadn’t done holiday pictures in a few years. This time around a more fancy approach felt fresh and fun. Domino didn’t necessarily agree but we got some good shots (and some funny shots) and I’m sharing them, along with how to put together outfits without being too matchy-matchy, over on the blog tonight. This room is a feast for the eyes, but the feels are just as good. @annieselke had the best bedding, and everyone who touches these sheets is envious. Silky magic. For a 5-year-old. #imjealous #oneroomchallenge #girlsroom

If you asked me my favorite part of this room there would be no way I could give you an answer. From the bed curtains, to the art wall, to the little dollhouse my dad made - they’re all my favorite! And while the details excite, the workhorses are just as good. The dresser from @lampsplus (yes, they sell more than lamps, some great furniture in fact) is a piece that can work for Milly forever, or transition to a dining room buffet or media console in a pinch. #sharemylampsplus #girlsroom #oneroomchallenge

You all have been so kind about our #oneroomchallenge space, thank you so much for your support! @weavegotcha did an impeccable job with the @fabricut + @stroheimfabrics velvet, and then I threw in a game changer the night we styled - that tassel trim! I bought it at a junk shop over a year ago and have been waiting for just the right spot to use it. When I was only left with a few inches of the stuff I knew this was the exact place it was meant for! You can see more of this room’s transformation on the blog. #girlsroom

While much of the room is meant to grow with the girls, this art area was put together specifically for a 5-year-old. My dad cut down a thrifted console table that makes the perfect desk to spread out projects, and the art is playful and fun. As Milly and Domino grow the console can be replaced with a vanity or another dresser, and the art can be switched up too. #girlsroom #oneroomchallenge #kidsroom

I’m a big believer in putting an area in every kids room for the adults if there’s space. This @article chair and lamp will make bedtime reading really enjoyable, and the art from @angela_thepaintedhouse is sure to be cherished forever!

These floors get a lot of buzz, and many of you have asked how we keep them clean. The answer to how (and who) might surprise you! Head to the blog for more about how we get our house clean and why my kids have chores with @oxo! Do your kids have chores? #sponsored #kitchendesign

Don’t miss the Q&A over on the blog for this week’s #oneroomchallenge where I’m answering a lot of great design questions, like how we lay out moulding and what made me confident in choosing this cabinet color. Man, I need to reshoot this now that the wood room is no longer wood! @justinsalemmeyer

Una publicación compartida de Home + Design | The Makerista (@themakerista) el

Many of you thought the wood room was my #oneroomchallenge, but I'm just not all there and decided to work on two rooms at a time! Can you believe the power of paint?! Swipe left to see the before, and if you need painters and are in the Kansas City area, I can't recommend the guys that did this job enough! Head to the blog to see what other room we're planning to tackle in the next six weeks! #transformationtuesday #onawednesday #woodroom @oneroomchallenge

A day spent with @justinsalemmeyer and my sister is a day well spent! We shot something a bit different for The Makerista today, and I'm so excited to share it with you all soon. Justin has such a gift, and I love that while he's here he's always asking to shoot more than what I ask for. This mantle is my favorite in the house, and it might make me look little, but it's just really big - I'm 5'8"! http://liketk.it/2sDnH #liketkit @liketoknow.it Photo by @justinsalemmeyer

Planning a gender neutral nursery that still involves lots of color sounds tricky. While the bones of the sunroom would have remained the same, if Domino would have come out a boy, there would have been some very different styling. Head to the blog to see how this wallpaper could also work in a boy's nursery. (You know you've got to go because you don't believe me... ) @larkphotos #sunroomstyle #nursery

One of the elements of my personal style is bold pops. I'd say these colorful stripes in the nursery are just that! Head to the blog for a peek at the rest of my style breakdown. #nationalstripesday #dsstripes

This girl loves to be held all day, and I'm just happy to have a pretty room to do it in. @justinsalemmeyer #dominomae

How we turned a room full of windows into a nursery with @theshadestore for the @oneroomchallenge is on the blog this morning. She may not be sleeping in her crib yet, but that day is coming, right?

I was starting to worry that'd I'd never get back to this position, but I spent a good chunk of my day behind the computer editing and emailing, and it felt really great! Plus this huge desk situation is . #newbornmom #backatit #oneroomchallenge

All of my motherly inadequacies are covered in your fatherly gifts, and I thank God for putting us two opposites together. Happy Father's Day, Micah! @justinsalemmeyer

A six-month-old, day 21 of the #whole30, and kids itching to be done with school all have me so ready to lay my head down tonight. You so easily forget how much work babies are, don't you? #masterbedroom #mastermakeover

Una publicación compartida de Home + Design | The Makerista (@themakerista) el

Thanks for all of your kind words on the refresh! It's a mix of new, things I had (like this bamboo folding chair), and things I made (like these blush curtains for the French doors that lead into my closet). Having a grown up retreat feels so wonderful. Don't leave your master bedroom as the last "to do." You'll never regret moving it up the list! Our master has gone from a room I never liked being in to a space that feels like a grown up retreat. More on the blog. #masterbedroom #cleantraditional #bedroommakeover

Who else is shopping in their PJs today? What deals are you taking advantage of? I still have a lot to buy! Don't miss @lindsay_letters sale and your chance to snag up beautiful pieces, including @larkphotos Vermont Trees. It's the perfect winter addition to our mud area!

If we're not going to get a big snow (which this late in the game, I'm no longer hoping for) I'm ready for some budding branches! Is it spring yet where you live?

Want to add life to your spaces? Add art! This butterfly print gives me all the feels and is only $15. More on the blog now...#jennysprintshop

While I love walking away from the One Room Challenge with a completely finished space, most of my rooms don't go that way. We completed the bones of the library almost a year ago, but it's been a revolving door of furnishings and accessories since then. Taking my time and picking pieces as they make themselves known (like the pheasant that's been living in my in-laws attic storage) feels really nice. How do you like to design?

Una publicación compartida de Home + Design | The Makerista (@themakerista) el

It's hard to believe it, but just a few weeks ago this corner of the backyard was lifeless and only contained a tired-looking sandbox filled with neon plastic toys. Thanks to @bedbathandbeyond and a lot of sweat and bugbites, we've created a space to gather with friends and family from spring through fall. Head to the blog for the full makeover! #ad #bedbathandbeyond #outdoorliving
